Do you wear makeup? Do you have sensitive skin that makeup irritates?

What are some good products? What are some products to stay away from?

I started wearing makeup in middle school. Yes, it’s normal to not like or want to wear makeup. You can do whatever you want, forever. I love wearing makeup- but I hate taking it off. I’d wear it everytime I went out if I didn’t have to go through the grueling process of taking it off. I’m a lazy ass. I have sensitive body skin, but I don’t think I have particularly sensitive facial skin? I’ve never had makeup irritate my skin (except for when I sleep in it and then get acne which is… a given.)

Good/bad is pretty subjective, because the same makeup product can lay terribly on one person’s face, and be another person’s holy grail. It really depends. For me, I have freckles, so I never wear tinted moisturizers/bb/cc creams. The all over sheer finish makes my face look really bad. My freckles always look grey. It’s horrible lol.

I have rather short lashes so to make them look longer I use loreal lash primer combined with the telescopic mascara. I always heard good reviews about telescopic but it didn’t do it for me until I used it with the primer, and that’s what has been working best for me. I’ve heard good reviews about the essence lash princess mascara as well but I personally haven’t tried it out yet so I wouldn’t know.

Stay away from eyeshadow that’s too cheap, it’s usually chalky. I’m a fan of drugstore makeup since I’m also a cheap ass but eyeshadow is one thing I don’t buy at CVS or whatever. Colourpop has affordable eyeshadows that are usually well formulated in my experience. You can also use an eyeshadow primer if you find you have issues with the eyeshadow not be the same color/vibrancy on your lid as it is in the pan, or fading too fast.

One thing I’d be on the lookout for is checking to see if you have a double lip line. I do and for years I wondered why lipstick never looked right on me. Then I started using a lipliner and my makeup game changed. I will never go back to not using a lipliner. Ever. Some people can omit it. I am not one of those people lol.

Thank you for all of the tips! I’m a senior in high school and my mom has been pressuring me for a few years to wear makeup. She says I’m weird to not like it and “all girls wear it,” but I don’t like the feeling on my face. For the most part, only my forehead is sensitive, but I seem to have the strangest allergies and I would be that person to be allergic to some common and random makeup ingredient.

Your mother is very far from the truth. There are plenty of girls who don’t wear makeup. You don’t have to force yourself to use it if you don’t want to. If anything, that’ll just lead you to having a negative association with makeup. She’s the weird one for pressuring you to use it…

If you do decide to wear makeup out of your own volition, I know a lot of women with rosacea and other skin issues tend to omit base makeup. Or they won’t use foundation, maybe sparingly use concealer under their eyes, and wear blush and stuff. They choose to embrace their skin issues instead of trying to slather products on and cover them up. There are a lot of sensitive-skin-friendly products out there. There are like, makeup/skincare hybrids. I’m sure there’s recommendations out there. If you chose to, you could always go to a doctor/derm and try and figure out what ingredient it is specifically that irritates your skin. But this is somewhat of a hassle, and if you don’t actually like wearing makeup, I’d just say to avoid it haha.

I think I might have rosacea? My cheeks are alway red and people will say “why are you blushing?”, I’m not. It’s just always like that.

try cicapair, it’s a skincare green toner to cancel redness. if you don’t feel the need to wear makeup, don’t. if you want to try, a tiny bit of concealer, mascara and highlighter go a long way to brighten the face. since you have redness, you probably don’t need much blush. lots of brands are also bringing out makeup infused with skincare now, which might be better for you sensitive skin

Not all girls wear it and you shouldn’t feel pressured to. But if you DO want to, know that not all foundations/concealers are created equal. Some definitively feel heavier and more suffocating than others. Same with primers. Just a heads up if you ever do wanna try again in the future. Powders may be more kinder to your skin.

But if you don’t wanna wear makeup then don’t :)
