Vans aren’t made the same way so they shouldn’t crumble, most are just canvas and rubber. You may find a crunchy insoles, but that’s easy enough to replace

If worn casually they won’t crumble. It’s from years of no compression… sitting in box not on foot

How are you maintaining them? It’s true that the leather will dry out and stuff…after a decade plus, mostly. Haven’t owned any that long, tho
