Most-all of my pre-made palettes that I purchased have one or two gold eyeshadows in them, and was wondering how you guys wear gold shadow for a day to day look! My go-to looks is usually a dark shimmer bronze smokey eye, so I’m not feeling inspired by all these golds. I have lots of yellow gold, bronze gold and true gold shades!
I use an angle brush and wear it like eyeliner
I love using for halo eyes. Gold adds that punch of bright color to my subtle and dramatic looks. It’s can be a good inner highlight too
I wear gold with lots of other colors (pink, brown, green). I use the gold from the inner corner to the middle of my eye lid and the other color on the outer eye corner, and usually another color for the crease. It looks really pretty in the fall and I’ll be wearing it through the Christmas holiday before swapping for Silver in spring :).
In the inner corner, outer corner or as eyeliner. You can also pick a color that suits you really well (for me it’s green) and dust it over. What I also do sometimes is take a satin shade (let’s say green or or pink for me), spread it all over my mobile lid, and then take some gold and go above, in between the eyebrow and the mobile lid.
Largely, it depends on your eye shape what you can or cannot play with.
This might be odd, but I use it under my eyes like literally ON my eye bags which are kind of blue/purplish. It ends up looking like I put a lil highlighter there, I think it’s cute but I’ve never seen anyone else do that.
I do this with silver shadows all the time, I must try using gold there next.
Sounds good, have to give this a try!
For halo eye, undereye, but also as a wash. Most of the golds can be sheered out. Even if the gold you have is not exactly your color, you can sheer it out and it will look natural as a topper or as a single shade on the lid.
I wear gold all the time. I blend with shades of brown and put gold on the inner 1/3 of my lid.
I wear it over other eyeshadows or by itself, it looks good on my eyes, so I just find a reason to apply it lol.
Honestly my favorite way to wear a shimmery gold shadow is just as a wash over my lid as a single color, with a winged liner and false lash, especially days I go for a red lip!
On my eyelids. Their skin is naturally darker so even when bare, it always looks like I have makeup on. However, I use it on very limited and formal occasions. I prefer bronze because it looks better on my green eyes.
in the inner corner! i also like a gentle sweep of it right under the inner third of my eye
Yeah! I have a gold eyeshadow stick but I use it as eyeliner on the bottom lash line when I’m done to just add some sparkle. Mainly do this a lot with Smokey eye looks in winter time or night time/Eve look.
Coming from a gold eyeshadow fiend - I have way too many - here are a couple of easy looks, all of which I’d consider daytime and work appropriate:
- black or brown kajal pencil smudged all around the eye, then the gold shadow applied over it and across the whole lid, blended out. Tightline, if you want (my eyes can’t handle it), finish with mascara.
- gold shadow applied thickly on the lid, blended into a light matte shadow in the crease. Colour options for the crease (depending on your preference and of course the undertone of the gold): ochre, caramel, light brown, brownish pink, burnt orange. No liner, finish with mascara of your colour preference (brown, black, maybe burgundy)
- a wash of gold all over the eye and blended out well, then liquid or pencil liner. Colour options: black, brown, blue, dark red or burgundy. Adjust the colour and shape/thickness of your eyeliner according to your preferences and needs, and ofc the shape of the eye. Finish with mascara.
- black or brown cream or stick eyeshadow over the lid and blended into the crease. Set the lid with the gold shadow to prevent creasing and provide a highlight. Finish with mascara.
I also use straight up gold to highlight my inner corners whenever I do a dramatic warm smokey eye, but that’s not exactly a day-to-day thing.
I have a gold cream eyeshadow that I’m obsessed with. Sometimes I wear it during the day, and it’s in a tube so I can easily control how much I use to make it nice and light for daytime and then build it up later when I want to transition it for night. For day, I start with bronze kohl eyeliner across my whole top lid and half my bottom lid, and then smudge it a little. Then I spread the shadow across my entire top lid, but stop at the crease. I just use my finger. I have brown eyes and brown hair with copper highlights, and I think it really brings out the color!
