I used to be really into super deep dark brown, purple and burgundy lipsticks, and a lot of kind of purplish tones. IDK, I just… don’t feel like they ever look right anymore? So I’ve been doing bold nude brownish reds and coral browns more. I miss blotting the lipstick all over everything, but sometimes I would spend like 3 hours putting on coat after coat of liner and lipstick and blotting it to get a super exaggerated complicated fade, and lately I just… eh. I have smaller lip filler than the first time I got it so I have deep lines, so I’ll pop a darker stain into the creases and blot with a pucker so they stick out or something. I’m tired of feeling like I’m always wiping the corners of my mouth to avoid looking like Robert Smith.

I really love mine. But… IDK. The ones I wear, I bet most of the people who shit talk falsies wouldn’t know I was wearing them? My favorite set are really close to my natural hair color instead of black, and when I apply them right, the main giveaway that they aren’t just good mascara is that they’re a lot denser than my real lashes. I mainly use them because mascara can so easily bleed all over your face in humid weather, and lashes are so easy to apply once you get used to it. Sometimes I even wear them without fixing my dark circles, with just like, pore primer and blush and liner. So… IDK. I think when I do that, people mostly don’t notice.

I think most of the hate is just the trend cycle. Things move in and out of style.

Whenever I try this, it’s too hard. I don’t bother. When I don’t wear a lot of makeup, it looks better if the stuff I do wear is very obvious, like smudgy eyeshadow, blush and lashes or something. If I try to look better than a bare face with no makeup, I wind up spending 2 and a half hours putting on makeup. There’s a thing with a lot of highlighter I can kind of do, but I have blonde lashes and even minimal mascara improves my appearance a lot but it’s always pretty obvious.

When I was younger, sometimes I would wear like, bright purple mascara and line my eyes and do my brows with purple shadow, but I was really bad at eyeshadow and didn’t use primer or anything, and used one shade with different application techniques and tbh after like 2 hours it looked like shit.

I can’t do black liner and mascara and brows. I know other women with lighter colorings can pull it off, but it just… looks fucking terrible. I do a dark brown or maybe like a deep burgundy or plum and it instantly looks right. I even get brown falsies now.
