  • Converse will always be around and will always be cool.

I wouldn’t really recommend them for skating though. The upper material is very thin. You’ll have holes from the first ollie that you pop.

The bottom is extremely flat and the outsole is vulcanized, so they do skate really well. They just won’t last long at all. There are some that are meant for skating that would be reinforced in the important spots but I don’t know where to find those or how much they’d be.

If you want something similar, and similarly priced, that would be a MUCH better skate shoe I’d recommend Vans Sk8 Hi or Vans Old Skool. The sk8 hi is a similar silhouette to the chuck Taylor but it’s designed for skating. It’s got suede panels on the high stress areas from skating that’ll last a much longer time than converse. Old skool is basically a low top version. The old skool is a bit cheaper than the sk8 hi but they’re both pretty close in price to the converse. All under $100 usd.

    Also teenagers definitely wear vans.

If you want something that’s going to skate well and be similarly comfortable to the air max 90’s you’ve been wearing, you might have to go a different direction. This subreddit probably only knows Nike sb for dunks but they have a bunch of other silhouettes that are a lot cheaper, a lot more attainable, and a lot comfier and skate better. Or go to a skate shop and look around. I’m not super familiar with skate shoe brands, but there are a ton and someone in a skate shop will help you out a lot. Skate brands are usually pretty cheap too because they know their shoes are made to be destroyed.

  • Honestly who cares?

In my experience “why is everyone sleeping on these??” always comes from someone who either a) speculated hard on the shoe, bought a bunch of pairs and now can’t make any money reselling, or b) copped a personal pair but won’t wear a shoe if it’s not super hyped or sold out.

I like the shoe a lot, I just have to chill on buying sneakers at the moment. I’ll be very happy if I can cop a pair in a few months for retail or below.

  • Af1 has a better cushioning in the sole but I wouldn’t recommend long walks in either of these. Someone already said new balance 990 v6 that’s what I would recommend, they look cool and are top 5 comfiest shoes I’ve ever worn. A little more expensive than retail price for af1’s or dunks but easier to find too. Something like a new balance 2002r is almost always available at foot locker or any other shoe store and will be extremely comfortable especially for long walks and runs about $150.

  • Takahashi was an Air Max head. Jonuchi/Joey wears air max 95’s the entire series. The story where he cops the super rare ‘95’s and they get stolen and sold back to the store so Dark Yugi plays the death game with the owner where there’s like a scorpion in the shoe and they have to try to stab it??

OG yugioh before it became all about duel monsters was one of the greatest manga of all time. It’s still great once it focuses on the card game too.
