  • Both pairs, colorwise, are great neutral colors that go well with almost everything. The mids with the black outsole will fare better unnoticed when dirty as opposed to the grey fog dunk’s outsole. Not a big deal, but just something to take note of. I personally find mids and highs a bit tougher to style with shorts as opposed to low tops, again, me personally since I’m shorter. Both pairs, material-wise, use standard general-release synthetic leather, with the Mid having a slightly better material around the ankle collar and swoosh (the suede elephant print). Both pairs will get that pretty rough toebox creasing because of that synthetic leather, so something to be aware of. If I may suggest a 3rd option since you mention they will be your go-to all-around shoe and may get a bit more wear, is to consider the Nike Dunk by You option with a mix of the colors. The reason I’m suggesting that is because the materials that come with Nike Dunk by You are much better and will last and look better over a longer period of time. They do cost a little more, but personally, I think it’s worth exploring that option, but if you’re set on a budget, I personally would go with the AJ1 Mid Black Elephants because of the ease of keeping them clean, and the fact they do have an air unit in the heel as opposed to the dunks that doesn’t have an Air unit at all. Best of luck with your decision, cheers.

  • A bit of a loaded question OP. To help provide a better answer consider adding some more context like, what type of Sneakers are you looking for, Lifestyle, Basketball, Running, etc? What brand are you considering, Nike, Reebok, Christian Louboutin? Possible colorways you’re interested in? At this time, almost every shoe brand has some sort of Black Friday/Cyber week sales, so technically 10,000s of pairs are on sale under retail.

  • I believe (someone can correct me if i’m wrong) the letters are either some type of decals or stamped print. Whatever method or ink-type material they use to print the lettering is now completely gone. Looking at your pair where the “White” word is, you can see the print being scrubbed off, So I would guess the same cleaning methods were taken on the suede as well. There isn’t a way to get the print back without actually mimicking the manufacturing process.
Something for you to note for the future when cleaning suede is to use the least amount of liquid as possible. Here is a great video demonstrating some cleaning methods for different types of suedes. As much as I love FZ150, the chemical compound of the liquid is extremely aggressive, which is why they are great for cleaning super-dirty shoes. They can however be too aggressive for materials like nubuck and suede. Sorry to have to break the bad news, but consider this a learning experience.

There are a lot of factors that come into play with sneakers and sneaker releases. A lot of popular silhouettes will automatically have challenges of obtaining just because they are that model (good examples are Jordan 4s). Now add in factors like colorways, special materials, and/or OG-ness (not sure if that’s a word, but I’m going with it).

Add another layer for Collabs which then adds the fact of limited stock numbers. For example, the recent Nike Dunk SB X Tightbooth collab had a stock number of roughly 50,000 pairs being released, also keep in mind that is 50,000 TOTAL, so different sizes will have another limited number attached to it, for example, Men’s size 10 had roughly 4000 pairs available and Men’s size 11.5 only had 1500 pairs.

Next, you’ll need to consider the number of people who are going for that pair as well as factoring in folks who backdoor pairs, resellers, and those with AI BOTS who do mass purchasing. All these factors will build scarcity and will decrease the chances of an average shopper purchasing said pair.

So to help combat some of these factors, shops and Nike themselves are doing drawings/raffle-style releases as a way for someone to fairly get a pair. Some shops may do first come first serve, sign up a week before release raffles, sign up the day of release for future notifications of a win, or some may just have you wait in line for a raffle ticket and hope you get one. So long as the release method is fair, skate shops/ clothing boutiques won’t be in violation of their Nike contract, and that is the most important aspect for them.

So to sum it up, yes, it’s normal release practice for Collabs and really hype shoes to have these various types of release methods.

1st off, sorry that someone declined a gift from you especially a pair of shoes. That’s not very kind of them, but nevertheless, you could post them up for sale and recoup some money back. Some great places to try and sell are Ebay and Goat. Just setup an account, post them up and see if you get any bites. Best of luck.

  • Dunks won’t ever be as comfy as Ultraboost or Yeezys, because the outsole tech/construction uses a mix of rubber fins with injected foam, as opposed to the Ultraboost and yeezys which are molded foam outsoles. To be honest, you can’t really compare them to dunks because they aren’t really the same concepts. Dunks are more in line with Adidas Superstars and the Ultraboost is more in line with a Nike Pegasus.

  • The Air Force 1 has a full-length air unit that makes it a bit more comfy on foot as opposed to the Dunk not having any Air unit in it at all, but the AF1 is just so much heavier than the Dunk because of all the foam that encapsulates that Air unit. So to be honest, Neither pairs are comfy for long-term walking. I would recommend you look at either an Air Max 90 or 95 if you want something a bit more comfy.
