I was putting on my lipstick today and noticed I always start on my bottom lip, which got me pondering what everyone else does.

I apply with a small flat brush, getting a crisp line on my cupids bow first. That’s the part I’m most likely to mess up so I do it first in case I need to wipe off and start over.

Bottom, then I gently press my lips together and finish filling in my top. Unless I’m wearing a liquid lipstick in which case I do the reverse and start with the top

bottom, right to left, then put bottom and top together so that the lipstick on the bottom lip stains the top lip, then fill in the cupids bow from left to right and then go over everything one more time

Bottom and then blend with my top lip with little lip flicks I guess you can call them and then start on my upper lip on the two points and trace that and then finish with the rest of the top lip. What sucks is that my face, including my lips are asymmetrical so doing wing liner and lips without it looking bad, is hard. I also love my purple liquid lip and when you have strong colors, it’s easier to mess up.

    Depends.

If it’s a bold color in liquid formula, I start with the inside of the cupids bow. Then I use the peaks to start tracing down the sides of my upper lip. Then I apply on the bottom, starting at the center and just swiping left and right.

If it’s a nude or a more nude like color, I start on the bottom. I generally wear liquid to powder or blurring formulas, think Kaleidos Lip Clay and Colour Pop’s Ultra Blotted Lip. I will apply a generous layer of product on my lower lip and then smack my lips together to get a blurred out all over look. Only works with these sorta of formulas, though. This would not look great with purple or black 😂
