Keeping foundations long past expiration date?

Would you keep a foundation years past it’s expiration date/the months on the bottle? Dior Backstage, 2 shades of NARS Sheer Glow, 2 shades of Fenty Eaze Drop and 2 shades of Kosas Tinted face oil. Most of these I bought about 2-3 years ago. . . I found a stash of foundation I bought 3 years ago and tried a handful of times (literally less than 5 times) but then moved about 3 months later and misplaced it in the moving boxes. I just found out it was at my parents house in their storage room with some my other stuff. Would you still keep them? The Dior separated in the bottle but was good but when I shook it.

Usually most products are fine if stored correctly and you don’t detect changes in formula. However, I’ve heard some bad things about Kosas product growing mold even before the “best if used by” date. Kosas products advertise lack of preservatives, but unfortunately that is the exact reason why mold and other microbes survive in their makeup.

I keep and use mine, but they are stored in my downstairs bathroom without a shower, so kept at room temp all the time. I have had some seperate that wouldnt mix back together so those went in the trash. Id do a test on the neck to make sure they are good and you dont get a reaction.

Not if it was opened. I definitely would toss the Dior because it separated. They make apps you can track your makeup on so you know what you have don’t run out before expires. It can keep you from over buying as well because you can see there are 47 bottles of foundation already at home.
^((lol ~ I think the max I have had at once was 15 but I was testing things out.)**)

The fenty is on sale right now for 25$ - Nars is also having a sale on other things on their site right now. The face oil is discontinued.

Most of my makeup products are at this point. I needed to wear full makeup for work before covid, and now I’m not working there anymore I only wear base, sunscreen, concealer, loose powder, blush and eyeliner. All my other products, foundations, eyeshadows, lipsticks are all bought before covid. They aren’t cheap so I’m not going to just throw them away.

Hell yeah; I just finished a 5 year old foundation!

Expiration date just means it’s not protected anymore, not that’s it’s inherently contaminated. I keep all my makeup and am just careful to look for signs it’s gone bad before using it, I don’t care about the expiration date

If it’s been in a dark, temp controlled/cool space, and does not smell bad, hasn’t separated, and isn’t dried up, you’re golden.
