As someone that is very pale with cool undertones, it’s tricky for me to find a foundation that actually works well. I currently use the Nars Oslo L1. At the same time, I don’t know if I actually need foundation; I’m fortunate to have mostly smooth skin and no blemishes. The only thing I’d say I’d need to cover is my under-eye circles, but that’s what concealer is for. The foundation works fine, but I find that despite it being very close to my skin tone, I still look super white and washed out even after I apply blush. Should I start using a bronzer? And is foundation really necessary in the end if my skin is overall clear?

I don’t use foundation because my skin is clear as well and it kinda just makes it look worse imo. Bronzer and blush help to add some colour for sure. I just use a tiny bit of concealer, blush and bronzer personally because I am also very fair

I don’t use foundation either and get compliments on my skin. Foundation (liquid, cream or powder) always made me look dried out. Look up “clean girl makeup” - the terminology is controversial but the concepts are useful. Just make sure you’re decently moisturizing, maybe a hyaluronic acid serum in the winter under your regular moisturizer, and then the under eye concealer. Sunscreen, and then a glow serum or cream/liquid highlighter (people like the Glossier oil serum, I use one of the Fenty highlighters in a tube). Then a little blush or bronzer, mascara, lip, done.

I don’t use foundation anymore, unless it’s like a really fancy event I’m going to. Most of the time I just use concealer to fix the discoloration or the glossier skin tint which is super sheer but just helps with redness and stuff so everything is nice and even. If you’re worried about looking washed out though, I would recommend bronzer. I really like the Patrick Ta ones because they have a cream and power in the compact.

I typically have great skin, and I just use a CC cream. It is really sheer coverage, and I mostly use it because the one I use has a high SPF.

nope, nothing is ‘needed’; there are no hard/fast rules when it comes to makeup.

I don’t wear a base most of the time and when I do, I use a lightweight skin tint.

I just use concealer so I can have a smoother base and add a little blush to liven it up. I don’t think foundation is really needed anymore

Noo please don’t. Use a tinted sunscreen if you want. Please don’t ruin your skin if you don’t really have any problems. It’s not required.

You don’t need foundation. Consider yourself lucky. Wearing a lot of foundation can only age you in the long run.

i personally think foundation makes me look worse. i just use concealer on my undereyes, & high points of my face & i use the least amount of products. i like my natural skin to do most of the work& do a light bit of blush / highlight to enhance it. sometimes very light handed powder contouring.

So, I know many people who don’t use foundation. Some because they have great even toned skin, and others because they just don’t wear makeup.

    And they look just fine.

Foundation is absolutely unnecessary if you have clear skin imo. Spot concealing would be the way to go.
