I’ve always done my foundation first and then eye makeup afterward. If I get any glittery eyeshadow on my face it’s hard to get off. So my question is a little chicken or the egg. Do you all do your eye makeup first or your foundation first??

I do base makeup first and then lightly hold a tissue under the eyes to try and catch fallout when applying eye makeup.

I always do foundation first and don’t care about any glittery fallout. I do however always use a glitter primer and use my finger to reduce the risk of fallout.

If I’m doing a big bold eye look, I think it’s kind of hard to do eyes first even though the fallout gets everywhere. It’s really hard to evenly contour and apply blush around a big ass, smoked out eye look when you get to the temples. But also, I don’t always want to bake so much to keep the shadow from sticking to my cheeks. It’s a real 🤷‍♀️.

Day to day, I’ve found I prefer to do eyes first now that I’m getting older (38) and doing less full coverage skin. If I do eyes first I notice myself using less concealer because the eye takes focus from my skin. And while I still wear a lot of look on my eyes, it’s usually neutral enough to work with if my sheer complexion makeup bumps into it.

But if I’m planning to go full coverage on my skin for a photo shoot or something, I still do skin first so all that concealer doesn’t end up on top of my eyeshadow. Gotta accept the bake.

If it’s really intense, smoky, or glittery eyeshadow then I do my eye makeup first. Otherwise, it’s foundation first.

I used to do my foundation first and put a layer of loose powder under my eyes, which made it pretty easy to brush away any fallout, but not entirely foolproof. Then I started doing my eyes first but I kept smearing concealer over my eye shadow. Now I do my eyes first but I use stick eye shadow so there really isn’t any fallout.

If you use eyeshadow under your eyes (and you have noticeable dark under your eyes like me,) foundation first. For me, I still look tired when I do foundation first

Usually eye makeup first. But my routine is a little more streamlined doing base first so lately I’ve been doing that cause I have a baby and kinda need to be able to call the look at any point.

Depends on the eyelook. But I only wear eyeshadow in the weekends and because I have time (most weekends) I will do my eyes first, then I’m sure I won’t mess up my base. Especially when I use the shimmers (despite using glitter primer). I’ve also noticed when I do my base AFTER putting on eyeshadow, that my foundation looks a lot better! I think that’s due to the skincare that got time to be really soaked into the skin. When I’m doing an eyelook that needs a lot of blending, it costs me half an hour😅 So that’s a plus if you need another reason to do your eyes first! ;)

Depends on the eyeshadow look really. Full disclosure, I very rarely wear eyeshadow in general, but when I do and it’s a more intense look with multiple colors, then I’d do my foundation and concealer AFTER the eyelook was done 😊

I always do eyes first, because it’s harder for me so I do the hardest things first applying foundation is effortless for me, so I do that afterwards. Eyes and eyebrows are always first for me.

It depends on my eye look. If it’s dramatic, got eye liner or glitter (which it often does) I do my eyes first. If it’s a simple eye look I’ll do it after my foundation

I do my eyeshadow first, if I’m actually putting some effort into an eye look. Actually I’ll start off with eyebrows, so when I use concealer and/or a base on my lids, I can use a flat brush with the same product to clean up my brow shape at the same time.
