  • It’s seeking validation for something nobody cares about though. If someone says “it’s ugly man, looks like shit. You’re a nerd” would it then affect his morale so much he feels like shit?

If it does, then it’s truly pointless anyway. Why does what people say about how it looks on HIM matter? Sounds like needing validation honestly and just terrible insecurity.

Getting feedback about a good watch or if it’s worth the price etc is far more objective in that sense. About whether it fits you because it may be 2-3mm bigger or even 10mm bigger? Completely ridiculous imo.

So if someone loves the watch and then 10 people say it looks too big then what? They sulk and don’t buy it and wish they had bigger hands? Sounds like a great way to live….

  • Just get it if you love it and can afford it. I never get why people seek validation from anonymous strangers about something nobody’s likely to ever notice you even wear.

It’s the age old “decide for me oh anonymous strangers” that’s pointless.

So what if people dislike or like or agree or disagree with it? Get it if you love it. Simple.

  • The same goes for many brands honestly because they’re a little overpriced by a bit or a lot for some, first hand from boutiques.

ADs give discounts in general but is a 25% discount on a brand new say, Blancpain Villaret complete calendar better than 40% off on chrono24 etc instead, for very good/nearly unworn/slightly used and from reputable sellers/verified servicing etc?

Up to the individual but that’s what you can find basically and stretch your budget a lot more.

Your 20k watch now can cost 12k when your initial budget of 12k brand new would’ve gotten you a lot less basically.

Same goes for brands ranging from Longines, Mido, Fredrique Constant all the way to Breguet etc.

  • Tag Heuer Monaco.

For F1 drivers it’s easy to know the brand mostly since they’ll always wear what they’re sponsored (teams are sponsored by brands… iwc for hamilton’s team, Richard Mille sponsors Ferrari or something, GP sponsors Aston Martin) so in their official appearances or on track etc, it’ll always be the brand sponsoring their team.

  • Nah who cares honestly. If you like the watch, get it. That’s what it should be about. Not, getting one because everyone wants one or only knowing that brand or thinking it’s going to elevate your status or whatever.

Rolex owners who buy it because they love the piece are getting what they love. Others are the ones who go “omg Rolex is best. It’s epitome of luxury. It’ll show I made it. I have to want it. It looks so unique compared to the many better made ones…” are the ones that run people the wrong way so to speak but hey, it’s their money so, who cares anyway in the end. Unless they post here asking “should I get this Rolex…? “ and you know it’s because they have no idea bout other brands… then it helps to show them other options. Same with omega imo anyway for the speed or sea master. These two brands are the most over mentioned ones on this sub and the other for the more expensive brands.

Longines too but they have many different collections so it’s not exactly the same.

If you like that Tudor, get it. Doesn’t matter that people try to justify it or put it down or whatever.
