I went to Ulta to buy a new blush and the poor young man that was helping me was new there and not thrilled to be discussing with me whether Orgasm or Deep Throat would be the best shade for me.

I stopped in at the Sephora in kohls today with my child and I was mortified shopping with all that everywhere I looked. I didn’t realize how widespread it had become until I saw it through the eyes of being a mother rather than shopping alone. It’s so gimmicky, too. Your products should shock me with their quality not with the names.

We don’t need another nude eyeshadow palette. Also, the lack of olive shades with foundation. Neutral and warm make me look orange and cool looks pink on me.

Yes to the olive. Everything is either too pink or too yellow. I usually end up doing something with beige undertone which is hard to find in most brands.

Discontinuiations, reformulations, price rises, delaying shade range expansions to some unknown time. Limiting shade ranges encourages people to buy more products to mix, so that’s quite a scam.

Not enough cool toned eyeshadow palettes out there, everything is warm orangey shades, or a crappy mixture of colours that don’t go together. And don’t get me started on the amount of pure red and pink eyeshadow’s, who the hell can pull them off? Also, not labelling their products cool, warm or neutral, gets my goat.

When they have like twenty-five shades of foundation and twenty of them are nearly identical shades of beige.

When the product they have their models wearing isn’t the product they’re selling. Or the product is being used with other things to make it look perfect, but you can’t achieve what they’re advertising with that product alone. This is my issue with basically anything that is sold online.

Mine is when they give ridiculous names to the products that are trying to pin on the color/flavor and be sexy but just sound dumb. This is most often seen with nail polish but it can get really nonsensical when referencing parts of the body that are unrelated. Like, “Your Grape or Mine?” “Give me the Silvers” “Kiss me on my Coconut” “Rose Who Does it Best” “Make Me Green Out Loud” “Pink Me All Over” etc. Something about these dumb names just stabs into my last nerve.

I saw My StrawBooty today, which as a lip gloss flavor sure sounds unsanitary. It also sounds like something a kindergartener would think is a funny joke.

When brands boast about having a wide shade range, but in reality they sell 50 shades of tan and maybe a few shades for people with fairer and darker skins. People with really fair or really dark skin though? They’ve never even heard of us. I’m the color of Casper the friendly ghost so you’d think finding my shade was easy, but when your skin is like white-white the options you have are limited. For some reason most makeup brands don’t know how to make GOOD really fair shades. The shades are always either too orange, or gray/ashy, or the undertones are just completely wrong and won’t match literally anyone.

This is me with the Uoma Beauty say what! foundation. I have the lightest shade out of 51 and it’s still too dark for me. I’m not even truly pale, just light.

I agree. I’m very, very fair with cool undertones and very dry skin. Most foundations I’ve tried just sit on top of my skin and flake because of how dry my skin is, plus they don’t even match. The closest I’ve found is the Nars tinted moisturizer, shade 0. It is still too dark/yellow for me, but it at least sits well on my dry skin.

When they come out with an eyeshadow pallete that has two or three fun, unique colors and the rest are all various shades of boring beige/peach/brown

Or vice versa. A nice neutrals palettes with wild colors thrown in that don’t go with the tones at all. Just seems like an attempt to make it seem more interesting or something. Make interesting palettes interesting and boring boring - or at least make them work together.
