Has anyone else had this experience? I’m a total makeup lover and I thought that once I had the opportunity to wear makeup everyday I would really enjoy it. Previously I’ve had to get up too early and a job that doesn’t really fit the vibe. Now I have the opportunity to wear it every day and I realizes I don’t like it. Makeup is my hobby and it feels like I’m not doing it for me anymore if I do it everyday. I’m kind of surprised by this honestly. I tried it for a bit but just felt very unlike myself. I love the idea of wearing makeup all the time but I think it’s just not my thing. Guess I’ll always be a evenings out and weekends makeup kind of girl.

I wore makeup every day, whether I was working or not. Then Covid happened and putting on makeup with a mask became mostly pointless. Plus, I was working in a place with sterile rooms where no makeup is (supposed to be, although people did it anyway) allowed.

Eventually, I got so used to seeing myself without makeup that it started feeling weird to see myself with it. I’ve gradually gotten back into wearing it when I go out to eat and such, but it’s no longer the necessity I once thought it was. I still enjoy putting it on—it’s taking it back off that always felt like a chore to me.

Eh, I could take it or leave it. I went for a while in my 20s unable to leave the house without makeup on. I’ve also gone years with no makeup except for super special occasions, and it was quite freeing to feel that comfortable in my own skin.

Now I’m back to wearing it daily, but it’s because I WANT to. However I have come to accept the fact that “makeup looks” just don’t work on me. It all disappears (really hooded eyes, low brows, glasses, and oily skin) so I pretty much stick to concealer under eyes, mascara and maybe eyeliner (like a few times a month), eyebrow pencil, and a lip color. The lip color is where I express my moods 😁 I may pull out the smokey winged shadow on date night if I feel like it 😉

I saw a Smitha video where she shows how put together you can look with zero makeup except a strong lipstick, and it really inspired me.

I had very, very oily skin when I was young so I never got in the habit. I did use mascara, blush and lipstick. That was enough. Now I’d have to be going to a fancy event to bother.

I’m the same way, I usually just do mascara and brow gel most days. I love doing my makeup for a night out though, it makes it feel more special when it’s less frequent.

I adore makeup, but not every day. Some days I want to give my skin a break. Some days I’m too tired or have too much going on to really put energy into it. It’s a creative expression, so it’s like asking a painter to paint when they’d rather lye in bed and eat Cheetos. Generally if I’m doing it early in the day too because I have to be somewhere like an appointment, it’s basic makeup, which I don’t dislike – it’s good for the confidence boost – but I don’t ever want to feel like I need it again. Been there, not healthy, and I don’t have any issues just walking around bare face. It does help I have a consistent skincare routine that works for me though.

Anyway I think the way you feel is the way most women feel.

if I have a job (particularly an office one or when I worked as a waitress) that requires me to wear it I hate it! I did learn a quick routine for applying tho and it’s helped me. I feel there’s too many steps in todays “trends”- you’re not alone!

I’m the same way. I love makeup but I don’t want/need to wear it every day. I save it for weekends or if I’m going out. And I’m honestly happy that way.

I work at Sephora and yeah, I almost always wear makeup but a lot of times it’s just a skin tint or tinted moisturizer, mascara and eyebrows.

If I want to do a full face I’m gonna but it doesn’t need to be every day. Nobody should ever fall into the trap of thinking they have to wear makeup every day. If you’re not enjoying it anymore…don’t do it.

I am this way all my life. It’s called a hobby for a reason.

For weekdays daily survivals, I have what I call maintenance make up aka just enough to minimise my working mom hagardness - cc cream and nudetix all over face. 5 mins top. If I have an important meeting, maybe I’ll fix my eyebrows and add some liner/mascara to pop up my eyes.

For weekends and date nights, I add a lot more layers and fun.

I’m 31F and I barely wear any makeup. Skincare is where it’s at! If you have good skin you won’t need all the caked on makeup to hide it. For makeup all I use now is mascara, eyeliner, eyebrow tint. Sometimes I’ll add liquid blush, sometimes a little bit of highlighter.

I started using Mad Hippie products and my skin feels and looks better than ever! I use their jelly cleanser morning and night. I use their hydration spray and vitamin C serum every morning. Plus their facial sunscreen which dries clear. My face is so soft!

I never used to leave my house without being done up to the nines, but then the pandemic happened and I didn’t wear makeup for a year and a half. Then when everything opened back up, I was like, “Meh.” This might seem counterproductive but when I decided I didn’t want to go through the whole process everyday, I started watching YouTube tutorials and practicing the “No-makeup makeup look.” I use a powder foundation to even out my skin tone, rub a tiny bit of neutral eyeshadow on my lids with my fingers, mascara, a tiny bit of bronzer and a long lasting lip stain. The great thing about makeup is that you get to decide how much or how little to wear it!!

I feel the same. My whole 20s I put makeup on everyday because I felt like I had to as I had bad skin and I was always treated so much better with a full face on. Now my skin has (thankfully) cleared up I just can’t be bothered anymore. However I still love and get excited by makeup, and just made an order for some new eyeshadow palettes which doesn’t make sense at all.

I focus more on skincare than makeup these days. Now when i do makeup i have a better base to work with bc my skin is healthy.
