Ngl, I just wear whatever colors I want and they look good. Not sure if I’m just delusional or if it’s because I never wear makeup that isn’t colorful. Literally the only brown eyeshadow I use is the stila eyeshadow duo in the shade velveteen dream

I’m exactly the same. Pink makeup always makes me look like Rudolph. I also have to wear neutral makeup even though I’m a neutral-cool (soft summer).

Wearing colors outside of your undertone (or color season – color analysis) will make you look washed out, too orange/yellow/pink/grey, sick, enhance flaws, and for makeup, it will look like the makeup is sitting on top of your face instead of looking as if it really is your face. Makeup that matches your features will enhance you, not look like makeup, if that makes sense.

I’ve had times where I convince myself I look good in cool lilac blushes because it was trending. Then I took a good look at the mirror and wiped it off with dignity

LMFAO that’s me with warm tone makeup. TBH trends are the worst and are a waste of money! Definitely really glad I found out my color analysis season and body type so I stop wasting money on makeup, hair, clothes, accessories, etc!

What about if it makes you look orange after a while? Like I think it looks good art first but then a few hours later my foundation makes me look orange.

i think this is the best description of it honestly

before i knew my palette (deep autumn), i would try to wear pastels and soft pinks and they would make me look very grey, despite the fact that i’m a tan person i also used to try to wear the classic bright red lipstick, but realized every time i wore it my skin looked terrible, like all i could see were my acne and acne scars and shadows. not even foundation helped. but once i switched to a different shade of red i didn’t have that problem anymore!

i feel like when it comes to clothes you can sometimes get away with wearing colors outside of your season/undertone, depending on the color and how you style it. but with makeup, it just never slides

I used to think I looked awful in red lipstick. Then I found the right shade of red and wow what a difference.

I have cool undertone and sometimes I do warm makeup it looks really cute and I like it but when I try cooler colors they look much better so for me… They don’t look bad but they’re not the best but I would definitely keep doing them as I like them.

As for how my skin appears, it looks a bit odd but not very noticeable I feel like i’m the only one who notices it kinda makes my skin looks pale/grayish (like sick) and doesn’t blend very well with my skin. unlike when I wear pink/red my skin looks healthier and glowy and it blends way better.

But to be honest it doesn’t really matter wear whatever your hearts desires it all comes down to the techniques you use either way you will be able to emphasise your features

Edit : forgot to mention my skin tone is Beige/medium I’m not pale/porcelain

This reminds me that I still can’t say for sure what undertone I am. I’m like almost as fair as possible but not sure about anything else.

Look into colour analysis and draping. You can do virtual or in person draping. Virtual - you take a photo of your face in a natural light, without makeup, covering your hair with white fabric. You cut out your face and place it on different colour backgrounds. Cool and warm. Your face should stand out before the background colour. If it looks like you’re under the colour, or you’re blurry, that’s not your colour. If you look healthier, jaw lifted and you’re the first thing you notice when you look at the combination, it is your colour. If it’s a warm background then you’re warm. If it’s a cool background then you’re cool.

Similar with in person. You try on different colours of clothes. Do it in natural light, no makeup hair covered. You put on different coloured fabric right under your face. If you look washed out, it’s not your colour. If you look healthy, it is.

Washed out doesn’t mean pale. It means you look tired, grey, or yellow with bags under eyes etc. Your eyes are drawn to the colours instead of you and they drain you. Healthy doesn’t mean tan. It means your skin is glowy and even, you see it first, bags are not as prominent, it can have a rosy tint or light yellow tint but it wouldn’t be sickly like in the case of being washed out.

I think I lean pretty middle of the road, when I wear cool toned I look sick or ghastly, when I wear warm toned I look like snooki

I’m cool toned. If I wear warm tones, I look like a carrot. If I wear warm tone lipstick, my face looks shallow N tired N weird odd. If I wear brown eyeshadows, I tend to look like I’m punched. …

I have a sort of olive undertone leaning warm and anything cool toned makes me look dead. I can’t wear blues and purples at all.

I have a neutral leaning cool undertone, a warmer overtone (olive) and I’m a med-dark skintone. I wore warm colors for years because to be warm at a glance. It looks ok but I’d need to really go full coverage to cover my blemishes and dark circles etc.

When I switched to neutral cool makeup, I found I need much much less product to look much much better. When you’re close to the middle undertone wise, it’s easier to get it wrong. It’s not super obvious thr colors are wrong. Especially when the shade selection for darker skin is poor to begin with

I have just about the palest, white cool toned skin in the world and when I’m in warm colors, my skin looks quite ruddy.

Man, I’m not trying to hijack your post so I’m sorry if I am, but how do I figure out my skin tone? Like, I have no idea and the last time I asked someone at a makeup store, it was at the Clinique makeup counter in the mall in the early 2000s, and that woman did not match me right 🥲

I’m fair with a cool undertone and I do love the warm autumnal eyeshadow tones this time of year, so I usually combine them with some cooler tones to create a balance. I don’t like limiting myself. Now I find with clothing it’s a different story for me.

I’m neutral but I only wear warm makeup because for some reason even though i’m neutral the cool tone makeup makes me look insane and isn’t as flattering as the warm tone makeup. Thats why i can only wear deep blues and nice warm toned makeup. I cant wear reds unless its a blue red. My foundations and concealer has to be warm as well. Darker shadows are very flattering, but I (thankfully) can still pull off pastels shadows and bright beautiful eyeshadow.
