A lot of Asian sunscreens seem to play well with makeup. My favorites are Biore Aqua Rich, Isntree Hyaluronic Acid, and Beauty of Joseon.

Salt NY Sneaky Balm. It seems to have more staying power than other light coverage options, even though I never use primer or powder because I’m dry AF.
Since Marc Jacobs has already been mentioned, I’m going to mention my favorite nail polish brand, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. A sad victim of Sephora. Although they probably would have had to change their name for longevity.
I am extremely nearsighted, so I do my makeup at a desk in my bedroom with a hand mirror because I can’t see farther than that without my glasses on.
They are basically just unblended foundations. You pop the suspended pigment as you blend, but it just turns a predetermined shade. Darcei had a whole series about it on her channel.
The order that works best for you is the correct order.
I do skincare first - vitamin C, dewy moisturizer and sunscreen. Usually the dewiness from the moisturizer is my “base” since I don’t typically use foundation or concealer.
Then I do eyes. Eye primer, eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara (in that order). I clean up any fallout or messiness, and then if I were doing a foundation (Salt NY Sneaky Balm), I would do it next. Followed by blush and highlighter. Then lip gloss. Finally, a dewy setting spray. I will occasionally use a contour or bronzer if I’m using foundation.
I like the Westman Atelier in Biscuit and Salt New York Sculpt and Bronze in the shade taupe
The one thing I really wanted was already sold out by the time I was able to place an order and it’s limited edition so probably won’t be restocked🙃
I think it’s a more difficult formula to work with than anyone ever says. Compared to others, even those in the same price range, the mattes especially seem to take a bit more work. I definitely don’t think they are super beginner friendly which makes me sideye all the BGs who gush endlessly.
I highly recommend the book “The Body is Not an Apology” by Sonya Renee Taylor. There is also now a journal that goes along with it. I’m seriously contemplating rereading it and using the journal this time.
If you like a shiny lip, but don’t like the stickiness or goopiness of a lip gloss, oils are a good choice. They’re not all made equal. I’ve tried some that are hydrating and also some that seem to have dried out my lips. The go bad faster than regular glosses
Clionadh has the best multichromes. They are expensive though. Everyone’s multichromes are expensive though. The nice thing about Clionadh and other indie brands is you can just buy singles so you can start with just a couple based on what you can afford.
