Even if you haven’t tried every single product from that brand, are you convinced there’s nothing good they sell?
Not quite makeup, but beauty in general…Cantu! Everything just dries up your soul!
Tarte. Nothing from them works on me
Dang, it’s funny to see how different can people view makeup. Tarte has worked great for me, I’ve got eyeshadow palletes, lashes, and a few other things and I’ve been real happy so far.
Tarte has my perfect foundation match but the formulas don’t work for me
everything tarte is so cakey and powdery and chalky on me, it’s a whole brand of flops
I tried their famous concealer, tape whatever, and could NOT make it work for me. Maybe I bought the wrong color or something but then I tried another Tarte product and it was so impressive that I can’t remember what it was to save my life and threw it away almost immediately.
Tarte products are amazing for me
Same! I love their contour and blush sticks, concealer and plumping glosses!
Same I’ve never had a miss from tarte
Yes! Everyone around me kept raving about their concealer - it was always so so dry no matter what prep I did
I like their lip maracujá things. But they’re too pricey
I love tarte eyeshadows lol not much else
I don’t use any of their foundations or concealers but I love their maneater mascara and eye shadow palette. Bronzer is meh.
I feel this. I feel like the brand peaked in 2013-16. It was so good back then, but it’s mostly all trash now. It’s so disappointing.
I have one good pallet from them that I got as a gift years ago and I still use it today. It’s a contour/bronzer/eyeshadow thing that smells like chocolate and it’s my eyeryday go to because helps me achieve natural look without having to pull out too many pallets. But that’s about it. I tried getting an eyeshadow palette and the formula was so different than my main hoe. Maybe because it was older it was better idk.
The Tarte Maneater liquid blush is so nice.
Their new version of Shape Tape is an absolute dream for me; I believe it’s called ultra creamy? I can never get my under eyes to look good (I also have tear troughs) and this concealer does it for me. I haven’t used any other product that does it for me.
Love the creamy shape tape formula! They also just came out with a radiant formula (little less coverage than creamy with a luminous finish) that I want to try.
I love the radiant version! It’s perfect for brightening the undereye area.
Tarte face products make me break out and I hate scented eyeshadows because sensitive skin breaks out so yeah. Tarte is useless.
I’m also unhappy because I had a terrible customer service experience. They’re completely irresponsible and I don’t trust them.
I love Tarte! But I have dry, sensitive skin. Their creaseless concealer and liquid eyeliner are the only ones that stay on properly for me, and lasts all day.
I love their blushes and concealers. The hydrating series of serum foundation, hydrocealers are so good for my dry skin. Can’t use them now because dimethicones clog my pores. Only creaseless concealer is safe to use.
Their foundation works pretty nicely for me but then again I haven’t tried any other brands
i love the level of pigment in their eyeshadows but their “double take” eyeliner SUCKS
The brand I tried quite a lot from and was always disappointed… Charlotte Tilbury. The only product from them I liked was the Magic foundation, which was discontinued.
Did like her mascara
I do absolutely love the setting spray though.
Their mascara is one of the only brands that doesn’t hurt my eyes but the brush is so terrible I don’t know if I can keep buying it.
The lip cheat is fantastic though!!!
I love their tinted brow gel
Their setting spray is magical for me. Foundation doesn’t transfer to my mask after hours of surgery. I like their lip liner. They have my truly MLBB color. Too bad they dont last long because they’re so creamy but that’s what makes them nice to use.
I just wish I understood the hype with Hollywood flawless filter… maybe it’s for people who use lighter coverage foundation? Who knows. I’ve also used the powder, and it did nothing for me. I def don’t see how it’s preferable for those with dry skin.
I’m glad I I read this, I have coveted this brand for a couple years now but haven’t been able to take the plunge and spend the money. Instead I enjoy finding & trying drugstore dupes for CT that are highly rated.
The only thing I like about them is their lipliner and lipstick.
I’d love to have an opinion on CT products but I can’t because they don’t have a foundation/concealer shade pale enough for me rip
Not sure why your comment was downvoted.
r/PaleMUA
I find her products super tacky and not worth the price tag AT ALL
I really like their potted cream eyeshadow and don’t care much for anything else
Over hyped barely average in my opinion.
yeah i’ve never even got any of their products they look like something you could easily find in a drugstore if not better
Some of their eye shadows are okay but they are grossly overpriced.
Also ALL of their products run too warm toned. There is no variety
I have been disappointment by their products as well aside from the black liquid eyeliner which is my favorite.
Can’t agree with this one! I’ve gotten a lot of compliments using lip cheat love trap (I blend with pillow talk and another color make an ombré lip). Pillow talk plain is a good nude for me as well. I recently got the pillow talk liquid blush (bc I had been using the lip stick as blush) and I love the formula. Very light and hasn’t made me breakout.
Also, I love how the lipglosses look on me. The creme pot eyeshadows are lovely and this other eye shadow kit I got a lot of compliments on. I’m a fairly light make up wearer and like things to be quick and easy while still looking put together. I think Charlotte T makeup I’ve bought does that.
Only thing I don’t like is I do find the lip cheat gets dry very quickly but that may be part of what makes it last? Over time it gets harder to blend. I wouldn’t mind replacing it if I knew something was better with a color just as flattering for me. For the record I’m fair olive. Not a lot of make up is compatible with that coloring surprisingly.
All the Revolution things. I have an eyeshadow palette which is not pigmented at all. I also tried a concealer and it was awful on me.
Their lipliners are THE WORST I have ever used. They are soooo dry, so waxyyy, I literally hurt my lips trying to line them 😭
But I do enjoy their lipsticks, and some of their shadow palettes can be decent but still a huge hit or miss brand.
That’s too bad. I have 1 Revolution palette and its pretty good. Not great but its decent. I wouldn’t repurchase that particular palette but I wouldn’t say no to buying another in the future.
Most of that brand sucks, but I do love their conceal and hydrate concealer.
I had one of their UD Naked palette dupes 7 years back and I really liked it! Enough that I went looking for it a few years ago and was disappointed when I couldn’t find it. I had a coworker ask me if I was wearing Modern Renaissance when I had it on lol.
It was a pretty good palette for a beginner. All nudes/pinks and a mix of mattes/shimmers. I def had to use eyeshadow primer, but it blended well. Wouldn’t rebuy it now that I’ve tried better (and more expensive) formulas, but for someone who’d only had experience with drugstore formulas and random free Lancôme / Estée Lauder palettes from my mom, it was good.
They’re baking powder is 🔥🔥
Agreed! I feel like I’m going crazy when people say the shadows are good. They’ve all been duds for me
I bought one of the smaller ones with lil cherries on it and it’s decent. Their quality isn’t consistent at all.
The 18 pan metal tin palettes are good, the 15 pan and smaller plastic palettes are pretty sucky. At least in my experience.
This is so funny to me because I’ve bought several of their products as far as eyeshadows and haven’t had any issues. I think people also forget they’re like a lower end mid priced. It’s like a step up from drug store so it’s not going to be ABH pigmented. For the price I personally can’t complain because I can’t afford higher mid priced products.
Another thing is, price-quality aside, that many people forget high pigmentation is not an actual requirement for makeup nor a quality indicator. Not everyone likes pigmented stuff and some prefer a formula that keeps things on the less bold side or lets you buildup (just look at most asian products. Many euroamerican people think they are “bad” products because they are “not pigmented enough” but that’s actually how they are designed to perform).
I love the look of Asian makeup, I’m actually trying to pick a palette. Yes, they’re less pigmented and I love that. I’ve never done bold looks so this style fits me perfectly. Still, when I said the Revolution palette is not pigmented I meant that it’s dusty, patchy and that it takes a lot to get it out of the pan. When I finally managed to get it on my skin, the fallout was pretty bad.
I’ve bought their Blade brow products and they work so well. Better than any other brow pencil for me.
I use their concealer and its brilliant.
Yes. Their Conceal & Define concealer is great, I reach for it over my Nars.
I love brands like ELF, ColourPop, and NYX which at a tiny bit more expensive but some of the Revolution 9 pans are about 9$. ELF 10 pans are 10$ and the bite size 4 pans are 3$. So I’d call them similar.
I’ve wanted to love some of the Revolution pallets or at least like them! For me they leave so much fallout it’s insane if it actually is pigmented. Other shades I feel like I’m grinding into my brush just to roughly sweep on my lids like a preschooler to get any color.
I’ll never forget when all ELF products were $1 each.
The only thing I’ve tried from them is a concealer and I actually really enjoyed it! Gave me perfect skin texture and coverage was amazing and lasted all day. Back then I really wanted their chocolate palettes but never got the chance to. Seeing all these comments made me feel glad I never got one:))
Same! I’ve tried at least a dozen palettes and they all pretty much suck! To the person who asked which ones, I’ve gotten rid of most of them, but still have the Aristocats palette (the Duchess highlighter I do actually use) and Beautiful Darkness; and I specifically remember a couple of the Reloadeds, and Rose Gold Chocolate that I hated. 😔
I felt the same but then heard people raving about their cream bronzer so I got that to try and actually really love it! But that’s the only thing 😂
Which one is this? I’m curious now 😊
Revolution Ultra Cream Bronzer. I got it in the shade Light and it actually works well for my very fair, very cool toned skin. It has a slightly rosy tone to it. Could definitely be rosier and then it would be perfection. But as it is, it’s pretty darn good! And I love the formula. It’s very creamy. Very pigmented - only takes a small amount. But blends out SO easy and melts into the skin. And it sets on its own and lasts all day without me needing to set it with a powder at all! I’ve been really impressed with it! It’s the main one I used all summer and now. And I really struggle finding bronzers that work for me (mostly due to shade though).
They used to be ok 6 or so years ago but now they are just awful
I have 2 of their palletes from Marshall’s. One is really really good and the other is really really not good.
i can agree the concealer was bad and not blendable at all. idk how anyone can put that under their eye comfortably
The only thing I like from them is their brow soap
EXACTLY. their most hyped products are completely crappy
Their foundation is my holy grail
Years ago I had to return a Revolution eyeshadow palette because it was irritating my skin, first time I bought that brand and the last
I’ve only tried their limited edition Simpsons setting spray and it was so good 😩
I do love their loose banana powder, but that is probably super easy to make
I dislike most things revolution but I lucked out with the most gorgeous eye palette for $10.
Agree. I don’t think they’re bad, but they aren’t up to par in comparison to other products
I’m not a huge fan of Makeup Revolution either. Their eyeliner smears and leaves me like a raccoon so fast. However, I do like the IRL Soft Focus 2 in 1 Translucent powder. It’s really fine and nice for under eyes.
I have a Revolution palette (black/gray colour book) and it’s quite patchy and doesn’t last very long. However I have another palette by them (some kind of coffee themed one) and the eyeshadows are SO pigmented and blend super well… I feel like it’s a brand that’s hard to generalise as their products are either hit or miss for me.
I had the Revolution palette and it was very grainy and hard to get pigmentation to come out , I have to scratch with the end of the brush to get something and even then it’ll just fall to my cheeks!! OMG
That’s exactly my experience with my Fortune Favours the Brave palette!
I actually really love their conceal and define concealer, and their powder contour
everything else i didn’t like
This was the concealer that didn’t work on me 🥲
i love that concealer lol
Revolution makes good setting sprays, I love their Sport Fix
The cream bronzer is the only thing that isn’t traaaash
Their cream bronzer in the single pan is amazing!
I love their eyeshadows and blushes!
I have a blush palette from them that works well for me. :)
The banana powder is good tho!!
I really love their cream bronzer, feel like it’s a good dupe for the Chanel tan soleil
dang, i love the IRL filter line of products & their base fix setting spray and the pink aerosol setting spray were my faves! and their pro foundation sticks are great too! idk if i just lucked out and caught them in an upswing bc i can no longer find the pink aerosol spray or the foundation sticks.
Dang it I have a pallet buy them that I absolutely adore
Agree. I bought a contour pallette it was garbage.
Everything ive ever got from revolution has been exceptional
I bought their waterproof Big Lash mascara and it’s the only thing I’ve ever bought from them. It actually looks great, but it is NOT waterproof by the longest shot!
Literally- I work at ulta (a large makeup retailer) and can’t stand revolution. I don’t recommend it to anyone
I’m surprised you say that, I have two palettes and find them very good!
I know I’m gonna get some hate but like rimmel and cover girl do nothing for me
Loveeee base products and mascaras from cover girl. I’ve seen a lip gloss from them went viral on tiktok as well!!
Agree 100%. It was fine for high school but I’m glad I’ve come along way from then 🫣😬 the pictures are pure cringe
I used to love their matte primer but now it breaks me out like crazy with huge zits that never gets a head. I was wondering what was causing it. I ran out and I’m using another one and now my skin has improved so much. It makes me sad because I do like how it works, it just breaks me out so bad.
The scandalous mascara by rimmel in the bright orange tube is my HG and people are always asking me about my lashes
Cover girl foundation gave me hives lol too scared to even touch another product of theirs
Rimmel has a lot of misses but some of their liners and lipsticks are fab for the price
Their liners are the best!
Best eyeliner ever!!
I used to love their brown mascara… I should look it up again, as that was ages ago
Rimmel foundation has never worked for me, I tried it a few times in the years before I could afford Mac and it was never even and always very dry and cakey. Nothing I’ve tried from covergirl was any good.
I’ll second cover girl. I’ve always had trouble with it.
Cover Girl foundation is still the only foundation that looks decent on me and I have tried a dozen different brands.
the cover girl concealer is so good
Which one? Genuine question btw.
Seconding this and adding Almay
Rimmel stay glossy lip glosses are the only glosses that don’t feel like sticky glue or taste gross on my lips.
Same! I tried so many Rimmel products and never found one I even halfway liked
Cover Girl, Revlon, MAC, L’Oréal… So many people love them but they’re either over-perfumed and terrible or just terrible
Mac lipsticks are so pretty but dry my lips out soooo bad.
I love exactly two items from them and it Haux single shadow and their lip liners. Everything else is horrible.
I like L’Oreal. I’m with you on the rest.
yesss the scents make me sick
I have hated every Physician’s Formula product I’ve tried. They are overly fragrant and consistently orange 🍊
100% and also the packaging is ugly as shit
I remember trying a few of their products when they first came out. They were hyped as being hypoallergenic. They were poor quality and still made my skin itch.
My favorite blush every was by them. I was just thinking about it earlier today. It was chocolate scented and it was beautiful, with a heart stamped into it, and the case was red with a little high heel. I don’t think it’s sold anymore. What a shame
Weirdly around 2008 they had the most amazing foundation I have ever used, it had a brush applicator straight on the tube, nobody ever remembers it and I feel like maybe I imagined it
The Healthy Foundation? I love that stuff. You can find it on Amazon or at Walmart still. I still use it time to time.
YES I CANT BELIEVE THEY GOT RID OF IT. I’ve never found anything like it
The Physicians Formula Youthful Wear? Omg I remember finding an old bottle in my friend’s sister’s room and being like WHAT IS THIS I had never seen it before!
ITS THE WORST!!
Well, what about their highlighters then? I also like their “healthy velvet lipstick” line of products
I keep going back to PF products because they have good clean ingredients which don’t break out my sensitive skin. I collect their blushes and healthy velvet lipsticks!
I loved their shimmer eyeshadow in my teens and I actually re-bought it for halloween as a body shimmer and it freaking DELIVERED.
That little box with the lace packaging and ombre shades of pure shimmer? She *lived* in my backpack for at least 8 years. I must hit pan and re-bought at least 4 times. Glazed donut for lyfe.
I have a sample size of the butter bronzer that I got as part of a sample pack and it has no smell. I actually really like it and the color is nice on my skin, but I don’t think I could use it if it had a strong scent.
The eyeliner is great. I’m using. Easily washed off. Doesn’t smudge after I set with loose powder
came here for this - the eyeliner in the silver packaging (I can’t remember what it’s called) has been the only eyeliner I’ve used since high school
Physician’s Formula is one of the few brands I buy consistently. I like the fragrances though and the colors are fine for me.
Everyone hyped up their eyeliner pen so much i was so excited to try it and it’s terrible for me 😭 it was streaky and didn’t stay on. I got it in black and brown and they both performed the same way
WHY ARE THEY SO ORANGE. WHY. I loved their lil ombre shiny eyeshadow palette when I was in middle school and actually recently re-bought it (because *nostalgia*) to use as a body-shimmer for halloween and I loved that little walk through memory lane but their foundation and concealer are just horrific.
This is my answer too. Such horribly fragranced products that always broke me out.
I loved their eyeshadow pallets when I was younger. They had ones for bringing out your eye color and I wore those everyday until I was able to afford higher end ones.
TOO FACED
I actually love their eyeshadows. I have a tried so many brands but something about their eyeshadows work on my weird eyelid skin.
They’re like my go-to brand I love how everything looks, I love their packaging the most, everything I’ve ever tried (I don’t cover my skin with anything so can speak to that stuff) has been incredible except the lip injector but thankfully it was just a free sample. I’m bummed seeing people think it’s overrated lol I love it and I think it’s so fun!! I do think the scents could/would be totally off putting to people but I personally love it.
Same! I love their stuff
I have to say that Too Faced makes the best eyeshadows in the game.l
They are the MOST orange yellow company good grief. I feel like all of their base products are for Simpsons characters.
Okay I hate their blushes but the heart packaging is too darling lol. I love their mascaras but there are just so many better products on the market. I think the branding is just shock-factor and sell for the “scandal” of the names, the product itself just doesn’t deliver
I LOVE their born this way foundation, all time perfect color match for me. Also their lip plumper. But those are the only products I’ve used by them
The only good thing is the lip injection original.
I’m basically allergic to nothing and my skin is sensitive to nothing I could probably bathe in bleach and be fine skin wise lol but their lip injector stuff?? Red blotchy marks all over my face, put it straight in the trash, on top of that it didn’t even do anything…
Damn. IM allergic to everything, sunscreen, food allergies, mascara, but i can use lip injection just fine.
their darker shades are exactly orange paint i never understand how anyone could wear it plus it’s so drying!
I just said this! Too faced is terrible!
two faced has so many good products but people always assume there bad cuz their packaging is cutesy, their setting spray is the only one that works for me, their bronzer is top tier and born this way concealer is like amazing. but their foundation sucks and their eyeshadows seem chalky
Hijacking for a sec:
Does anyone recommend a dupe for too faced’s peach blur setting powder? They discontinued it but it became a surprise staple for me!
I like how some of their eyeshadows look when I wear them, but the fall out on them is sooo bad
Yes I like their concealer. Bronzer. Never used their setting spray.
Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics
I tried the foundation it’s not bad I wouldn’t say I reach for it.
Agreed. I bought a palette and a brush set a few years ago and they were both complete trash. I actually returned them and I typically am too lazy to return anything.
I was gifted a lip liner and under eye powder from that brand that were fine. The other items were bland af. Elf or wet n wild type
Milk makeup
I’ve never been drawn to their products at all but my friend does a full face with their products and it looks amazing on her. Before I found out I had no good will towards the brand.
All their foundations pill on me and separate BADLY
I bought a mascara recently. First and only time I used it my teen asked what was going on under my eyes. Did it just slide off my lashes? Looked like I slept with it on.
I bought one of their mini lip and cheek sticks, and the moment I opened it, the stick came apart like a broken mudpie. Yeah, no, that got returned as defective very quickly.
I had one of these too and I threw it out because it smelled and tasted like literal chalk on my lips!
I also had one of their foundation sticks. It was a great match and remarkably easy to blend — but after about a month it smelled like a musty garage full of wet cardboard.
The mini size is now being sold as regular
I saw that a couple months ago and just gaped. Like did they seriously just do that like it’s nbd? Straight pissing on consumers’ heads and saying it’s raining.
Dude Fr. I tried their primers and thought and buying the full size but saw the hullabaloo about this and just didn’t want to give them my money at all lol. I’ll stick with my ELF dupes. I was so pissed.
I actually love Milk formulas but what on earth is up with the terrible packaging? It never closes correctly and usually dries up or falls apart.
Love their hydrogrip primer though!
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but I hate their primer. I can’t blend anythingggggg. I literally use the Elf putty primer.
I actually wasn’t a fan of the elf putty primer! I’m sure you aren’t doing anything wrong but we probably have different skin types!
I’ve only had deluxe samples but they made me think of when elf was $1, just children’s play makeup quality
I had to scroll so far to find this answer. The lip & cheek cream broke me out, the hydro grip primer actually separated products on me, and their tinted sunscreen was atrocious.
woahh I’ve always wanted to try their blush and only heard good things about it, is it bad 😭
I have one of their blush and im obsessed
I got a sample of the blush and went on to buy a full size. I personally love it. Easy to swipe on. Blends in. Looks natural.
Not a huge fan of the brand as a whole, but The Ordinary. Their makeup products suuuuuuuck.
Didn’t even know they made makeup. All I know is their skincare
didn’t know they made makeup? i feel like i see advertisements for the skincare everywhere and all the time but ive never seen makeup?
Thad’s so wild, I thought their serum foundation was really nice! I was bummed when it was discontinued. Also their AHA peel is my go to. Skin is weird!
I’ve been having different experiences with the ordinary and I think it might be me who’s using the products wrong. It’s supposed to be almost professional products the average consumer.
I have two old eyeshadow palettes I still use and the pigment is amazing. Their quality has gone down significantly
Unpopular opinion, but elf. I have literally yet to try a high quality product from them. I have hated just about everything I’ve tried and yet I keep giving them chances since they’re so affordable
Their foundations don’t work for my skin, they have no staying power.
i dont ever buy much elf but i bought a concealer from them not too long ago, i just wanted something cheap that i could wear on lazy days when i just wanna put on a little bit of something to run errands or what ever. i didn’t have high expectations, i thought it would just be a concealer at the very least tho… it’s the worst concealer i have ever tried. it’s like it’s not even real… like it’s a fake product or something? ive had concealers i didnt like bc after i put it on it didn’t hold up well over time but this elf concealer just wouldn’t even “go on” in the first place. the consistency was just…, not makeup at all. i tried so many ways to make it work but it just isn’t concealer
Especially the primer for me. It looks awful.
Their mascara is terrible. Bronzer TERRIBLE!
LH cosmetics (linda hallberg). I’ve tried 3 products from her and I’ve hated them all, I bought a brow gel and the applicator was seemingly made by metal, probably not but that’s how it felt. I bought a palette and it was super patchy. The third thing I don’t actually remember anymore, I just remember I hated it.
I hear Huda beauty has the stinkiest most foul smelling makeup. Like everything is scented with old lady perfume.
Jaclyn Cosmetics
