Don’t know if this post okay or not but will try anyway.

I ordered a keyboard of Akko’s own EU website. I have since changed my mind and do not want it anymore. The parcel is unopened and I have offered to sent it back for a refund.

However Akko won’t honor their own terms on their website regarding returns/refunds. They keep offering me 5 euros and eventually 10 euros in refund for me to keep it instead. But I have found another keyboard and do not want this one anymore.

They just refuse to honor their own terms so I have taken a last resort to contact American Express and letting their dispute team handle the matter.

Anyone else that’s had a bad experience with Akko?

Unless it was a custom product they can’t refuse a return. They can make you cover the return shipping costs but that’s about it unless it’s outside of the 30 day window.

Are you contacting them during their Customer Service working hours, or just getting the automated service? You are covered by consumer protection laws, so it’s strange you keep being fobbed off like that.

Offering you a refund to keep it isn’t to not honor the terms. That’s perfectly acceptable to offer and very much something you would have to expect.

However if they past you clearly refusing that won’t give you the option to return the package, that’s another matter.

That’s weird of Akko, I’ve never had any issues with Akko when it comes to customer service, their products are great and if the stuff I ordered comes out broken, they always immediately offer me a replacement or refund. You should try to contact them via live service by any means

I think the issue people are having is not with damage or warranty it’s being able to return an item you no longer want. It looks like they are trying to get people to give up and keep it rather than taking the financial loss that returns involve, which is really the cost of business.

I‘m in close contact to Akko and I‘ll let them know about this. Their EU shop is based in Germany which requires them to do proper returns and refunds.

Thanks to the power of this community Akko has now contacted me and said that they will resolve the matter.

However I will report back if the matter actually gets resolved or if this is just a way for them to try and silence this problem since other people have had the same experience apparently.

I will never, ever, ever understand a company who thinks being associated with these types of basic customer service failures is worth the $1-200 they’re potentially saving by refusing refunds. Mind blowing.

You dodged a bullet anyway, i had a full keyboard and switches from akko and they all failed after a year.

did the switches themselves fail? I know the akko switches have thinner leaf springs, and I avoided buying them for that reason, but that was just speculation

I had a similar issue… luckily I was already looking at my first custom, so it wasn’t a huge deal for me. Annoying I no longer have a backup keyboard though.

Ive been using akko Switches on many Boards now… 2 of them are daily drivers. Never had a Problem. Oldest one is 3 years old…

Might be a Problem on your side, and Not the Switches or Boards as such.

It shouldn’t take a Reddit post for you to follow your stated policy. Please review your return policy and align it with what you are willing to do going forward.

Same experience. They told me several times that shipping cost will be super high and “threatened” me that they had parcels missing in the past so they couldn’t refund and that it’s my own risk if I decide to send the items back because of “unknown factors such as parcels lost or damaged”. They begged me to keep the “keyboard” and accept a 5 EUR discount. I didn’t even order a keyboard but switches. They also offered me a “big discount”. Which turned out to be “If I have a new order, they would like to offer me a VIP gift”, but I first had to make a new order. Needless to say there was and won’t be a new order. Eventually I kept the the switches since they were cheap and not worth the time discussing. But I’ll never ever buy again from Akko.

My point exactly and I provided reference to official EU website of this in my communication with them. Let’s see if they solve the problem or not now that their EU customer service finally stepped in.

By law they have to refund you that’s for sure. Although I’ve noticed a trend in the keyboard community with people casually buying stuff and refunding them because “they changed their mind” and this is hurting the business seeing as most of these companies (not akko specifically) are small.

Did you buy from akkogear.eu (I think that is what it was called)? Same thing happened to me, only in my case the keyboard that I ordered was a complete rip-off and I got scammed for 70€. I would say try scanning the QR code on the box and see if that leads to anywhere, because mine straight up led to an non-existing website and by that point I knew I had been most likely scammed. I even emailed the official website, asking if the URL was official and they assured me it was. I read a lot of opinions about this brand and they all seem to be either hit or miss, with people saying they never had a problem and others saying they got scammed. Either way, that was just my experience and I will definitely never be purchasing off of some company based in China that has inconsistent links on their websites and vague policies when it comes to returns/refunds.

Yes, bought from their ali express store and it came damaged, a bunch of the RGB LEDs were broken off the board.

I asked for a refund and they fought and fought. Offered me a couple bucks for repair, it would have cost $30-40 to get it repaired so I told them they should cover it and they refused.

Eventually ali express stepped in and told them to refund and they did after complaining some more. I shipped it back and it took MONTHS to get to China then it got lost and returned to sender.

I sent messages asking what they wanted to do with it and after months got no reply so eventually I just sold it to a friend for the cost of shipping.

Never would I buy directly, only through Amazon or maybe ali.
